| Sited on a North-facing slope with wide open views of Red and White Mountain , the Reinhard Residence was designed to engage the landscape. The entry and great room establish a primary axis, stretching from a garden courtyard at the South, and terminating in a generous covered deck toward the North, reaching toward the distant sage-covered foothills. The house has an open plan, with the kitchen, dining, hearth, and living sharing perimeters, creating the "great room" design. The home is anchored to the site by a large circular staircase set within a stone tower. Because the tower faces South and East, the rooms beyond the tower have natural light throughout the morning and early afternoon. The house was finished just in time for a big family Thanksgiving in 2003. |
