The
Carolina Timber Company Lodge is a single family estate home of
approximately 26,000 square feet. The home is situated on the top of a
heavily wooded mountain in Highlands, North Carolina. This site
provides
360
degrees of incredible unobstructed views of the surrounding mountains.
The exterior finish materials consist primarily of native stone and
Poplar bark shingles. These materials have been used in this area for
100 years. All fireplaces are true masonry and some
interior beam work is from the recycled timbers of a sugar mill.
The basic layout of the home consists of a center piece with two
adjoining wings. The center portion of the home consists of the main
entry with grand staircase to the upper level, great room, kitchen,
dining room, catering kitchen, mail room and studies. Connected to this
center piece to the North is the master suite wing.
To the south of the main portion is the carriage house wing. The
carriage house has a main level garage with bedrooms and a recreation
room on the upper level and additional garage and storage in a lower
level.
